The present challenge of the maritime industry is the reduction of GHG wherein by 2030 or 8 years from now the industry would have cut 30% of GHG and by 2050 by 50-70%.  Although this is an ambitious project this is the direction that the industry is heading.

No wonder some shipowners are shifting to sustainable energy such as LPG,LNG and wind propulsion. 

Another challenge for the stake holders especially for the Tanker industry is the upcoming implementation of SIRE 2.0 slated to be implemented in 4th quarter of this year 2022.

When implemented, this will be very much different with the present set up of vetting inspection using the VIQ checklist. The new system will involve the 3 elements namely, Equipment,Process and Human element. The inspection will now involve the use of intrinsically safe tablet which will display a real time inspection and is fitted with GPS.
